This week we decided to revisit photoshop! Here, I have one of my Tangerini's photos. This style of photograph is called a color splash. It's very easy to do. all you have to do is make two layers of the same photo and erase the top black and white layer to reveal the color underneath! In freshman year, we had the opportunity to work with photoshop. I'm not very good at it, but I do have some skill! I can do color splash, and even self portraits too! I plan to develop my skills further and become a photoshop master!

Darkness is the canvas, and light is the brush. In long block, we did light painting with Mrs. Haggerty! we shut off all the lights, and changed the shutter speed on the camera to capture the trail of light we create with our tiny colored lights! I got to create a smiley face and try to write my name. The hardest part about light painting is trying to make sure you're drawing in the right spot. If you're writing your name and you have a ton of I's in your name, its harder to make sure you dot them in the right spot because you can't see it! light painting is a ton of fun and its always cool to be surprised by the outcome! The photos from the second round of light painting are at the end!
I think that the principals of design really depend on the elements of art and vice versa. You can't have variety without color, you can't have a pattern without shape, and so on. Its not very hard to show only one element or principal, but usually most art and photos contain multiple elements/principals. for example, the picture of the pumpkins. There's a main focus on one of the pumpkins, or there's more emphasis. but you also have the texture of the other pumpkins, lots of contrast in colors, and there's a strange texture or pattern to the leaves in the back.
I don't think photography will become a lost art because of how many people use cameras and art as ways of expressing themselves or saving them for memories. Photographs can be taken in multiple ways, but regardless it still serves the same purpose now as it did years ago. I think photography will definitely be around for a while.
The 7 photographic genres are art, photography and war, digital truth, presidential image making, advertising, social change, and cultural identity. Though these photos don't accurately portray that, an image such as a beach cluttered with plastic could be a photograph that is considered digital truth. you know the beach is trashed, but how do you know how bad it is in other places? other genres include portrait and landscape photography. The 5th photo could be considered a landscape photo because it shows surrounding scenery, and the 1st-4th photos could be considered close up photography. Fashion and documentary photography are also other types of photographs. Although my pictures don't have fashion, they could be considered documentary photography because you can see a different theme in them. These photos were taken in the same spots over the course of a month, you can see how some of the plants go from being very dull and sad, to being bright and lively with color, likely because of season change. The photos basically document the progression of the leaves changing, and more. One photo has red leaves, but in the background of the photo with the fern you can see brown dead leaves. Nature photography is another type which applies to each photo I have here. Each photo represents something from nature, whether it be a plant or an animal, and portrays them in their natural untouched states. Nature photography is my strong point and I intend to highlight most of my nature photography throughout the year! My dog Toby is my favorite thing. he is my favorite thing because he gives unconditional love, he's crazy, but always brings a smile to my face. He isn't the brightest bulb in the batch but thats why I love him! I chose this photo because it brings out everything about him. I took this on and iPhone 7 camera and imported it to my laptop. In the future I will be using cameras like the Canon Rebel t6 and more!
